Grants Awarded 2007 The International Iguana Foundation Announces Grants for 2007
The Board of Directors of the International Iguana Foundation (IIF) conducted their annual meeting at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, 15 – 16 December 2007. Five grants totaling $54,464 were awarded for the following projects in 2008:
Core support for the Jamaican iguana (Cyclura collei) recovery program, Byron Wilson, PhD, Program Director, $20,000.
IUCN Red List classification: Critically Endangered
New conservation measures for Ricord’s iguanas (Cyclura ricordii) in Haiti and continuation of conservation activities in the Dominican Republic, Grupo Jaragua, $7,120.

Last chance to maintain genetic diversity in the Fijian Crested Iguanas, (Brachylophus vitiensis), Peter Harlow, PhD, $13,500. ($4,500 for negotiations with tribal land owners, and $9,000 to follow pending granting of permission to move iguanas).

Outreach for recovery: Activities and materials to improve the conservation of six Cyclura species, Lee Pagni et al, $7,794
Geographic distribution of the Honduran paleate spiny-tailed iguana (Ctenosaura melanosterna) in the Valle de Aguan, Honduras, Stesha Pasachnik and Edoardo Antunez Pineda, $6,050 .
