Grants Awarded 2008 The International Iguana Foundation Announces Grants for 2008
The Board of Directors of the International Iguana Foundation (IIF) met 11 – 12 November 2008 at the White Oak Conservation Center in Florida. The Board awarded four conservation grants for projects in 2009 totaling $30,913:
Geographic distribution of the Honduran paleate spiny-tailed iguana, Ctenosaura melanosterna, in the Valle de Aguán, Honduras, $6,950. Stesha Pasachnik (University of Tennessee), Edoardo Pineda (National University of Honduras) and Jeffrey Corneil.
Investigation of Socioeconomic and Cultural Issues Affecting C. ricordii Populations in Anse-a-Pitres, Haiti, with a Comparative Study in Pedernales, Dominican Republic, $11,620. Masani Accime (Grupo Jaragua).
Physiological Impacts of Tourism and Food Supplementation on Endangered Bahamian Iguanas, $4,243. Kirsten Hines (The Institute for Regional Conservation)
Population monitoring, post-hurricane impact assessments, and reproductive ecology of the Turks and Caicos iguana, $8,100. Glenn Gerber (Zoological Society of San Diego CRES) and Mark Welch (Mississippi State University).
