Peter J. Tolson received his B.S. degree in Zoology from Michigan State University and his PhD from the University of Michigan. After teaching briefly at the University of Michigan he began employment at The Toledo Zoo as Curator of Amphibians and Reptiles in 1981. He became the Conservation Biologist at the Zoo in 1989 and the Director of Conservation and Research in 2001. He has been working on the ecology and conservation of Antillean boas and rock iguanas since 1974. He is a member of the IUCN Iguana Specialist Group, the IUCN Reintroduction Specialist Group, and the IUCN Conservation Breeding Specialist Group.
