Colette Adams is the General Curator and former Curator of Herpetology at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville , Texas .  She has been interested in poorly understood forms of wildlife since childhood, and when the zoo opened in 1971, her single career goal was to get a job caring for the reptiles and amphibians in its herpetarium.  Accordingly, she has been at the Gladys Porter Zoo since she was old enough to work there – now thirty-five years. She has a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis on Management.

In addition to serving on the board of directors for the International Iguana Foundation, Colette is currently a Philippine Crocodile National Recovery Team Member, a member of the IUCN SSC Iguana Specialists Group and the IUCN SSC Crocodile Specialists Group
