Dr. Jan Ramer is currently the Regional Veterinary Manager for the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project in Rwanda. She is on a 2 year leave of absence from her position as Associate Veterinarian at the Indianapolis Zoo. Jan has been working in Cyclura conservation in the Dominican Republic for the past 11 years, specifically with free ranging populations of Ricord’s iguanas. She is also co-chair of the IUCN Iguana Specialist Group, and is currently secretary of the International Iguana Foundation. Jan holds bachelor's degrees in biology from Purdue University, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin, and is a member of the American College of Zoological Medicine. She is also a past president of the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians.
