Colette Adams
Vice-President
Gladys Porter Zoo
Colette Adams is the general curator and former curator of herpetology at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas. She has been interested in poorly understood forms of wildlife since childhood, and when the zoo opened in 1971, her single career goal was to get a job caring for the reptiles and amphibians in its herpetarium. Accordingly, she has been at the Gladys Porter Zoo since she was old enough to work there – now thirty-five years. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis on management. In addition to serving on the board of directors for the International Iguana Foundation, Colette is currently a Philippine Crocodile National Recovery Team Member, a member of the IUCN SSC Iguana Specialist Group and the IUCN SSC Crocodile Specialist Group.
