As the Executive Director, Michael Fouraker, has been with the Fort Worth Zoo since 1993 and has more than 40 years of animal, exhibitory, and zoo management expertise. He has focused his career on building partnerships that support global conservation initiatives. Michael’s field experience includes work in Africa, India, North, Central, and South America, as well as throughout the Caribbean. An advocate of sustainability and applied conservation, Michael is a founding board member and former president of the International Iguana Foundation. a founding board member of the Caribbean Wildlife Alliance, and serves on various other conservation-focused boards. These organizations have contributed millions of dollars in support of rare species and their habitat worldwide. He is currently a member of the IUCN SSC Iguana Specialist Group and has previously served on various committees for the IUCN and the scientific advisory board for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
