Robert began his career in herpetology in 2001 and he currently serves as the Curator of Herpetology at the Audubon Zoo, where he leads a talented team of conservationists and reptile in amphibian conservation, research, and management activities. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University and a master’s degree from Hunter College, has served as an affiliate research associate with the Smithsonian Institution’s National Zoological Park since 2014, and is a founding member of the IUCN SSC Monitor Lizard Specialist Group. Robert holds appointments on several Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) steering committees, is currently the editor and section editor for the research journals Biawak and Herpetological Review, and has authored more than 70 scholarly publications focused on herpetology. His broad interests include reptile and amphibian conservation, ecology, behavior, captive management and welfare, and advancing the conservation, scientific, and educational activities and impacts of zoological parks.
