Niels van der Vegt, student researcher from The Netherlands, was excited about the internship to track Jamaican Iguanas in Jamaica's Hellshire Hills. Little did he know what challenges lay in store! But he conquered them and had an amazing field research experience.

Ten years ago, the number of Fijian Crested Iguanas on their native Monuriki Island was only about 100. The trees they depended on for food were mostly gone, and the species was in trouble.
